House H
House H
Province of Varese (VA)
Extension and attic conversion.
The building overlooks Lake Maggiore.
The project followed and accommodated the wishes of the client, who was very open to the use of new technologies for the management of the house and the use of alternative energies for energy saving purposes.
The house was revolutionized with heavy demolition and reconstruction work until it obtained Energy Class A, with a requirement of EPH 18.27kWh/m2a, obtaining great financial savings on heating expenses.
To improve the performance of the house the envelope was insulated (walls, floor on the ground side, roof) and various systems were installed: a heat pump, a photovoltaic system, a solar plant, and Controlled Mechanical Ventilation (CMV).
The new roof was designed with a south-facing slope to create a surface suitable for laying solar panels.
The fireplace is the visual and technical heart of the building; it is in the centre of the living room and connected to underfloor heating.
The technical aspect dealt with the liveability of the house, with a selection of materials to make the spaces warm and inviting.
